National Premier League Oldham v Blades

Oldham had an early start on Sunday playing Stash Blades from Southampton. The southern team staying in Oldham overnight after theĀ  long journey. However the good night sleep didn’t appear to help as it was Oldham who raced into an early 7-0 lead.

Oldham showed some fantastic attacking moves with Centre Laura Malcolm and Wing Attack Rachel Henry finding Goal Shooter Anastacia Wilson with ease. Blades fought back in the 2nd quarter stopping Oldham’s flow through the court. in spite of this Oldham took the quarter 12-8. Blades who are fighting to get out of the relegation play off places, simply couldn’t cope with the height and athleticism of Wilson who is showing great form ahead of the Super League Play- off where she will represent Northern Thunder.

Oldham pressed on playing some impressive netball and stormed through the third quarter 18-5.

In the final quarter coach Mike Greenwood gave Wilson a rest and tried out the young pairing of Kathryn Turner and Alexa Collier. Oldham didn’t adjust well to the change. this allowed Blades to take the last quarter 11-10. But the hard work had already been done and Oldham won the match 53-30, and maintained third position in division one.
