Oldham’s U15’s went through day one winning all 8 group games. They also won all three of their group games on day two and progressed to the knockout rounds.
Oldham faced local rivals Tameside in the semi final and started poorly going 2 – 0 down. Oldham clawed back into contention but were always one goal behind up until the last minute when the Tameside shooter missed a crucial shot and give Oldham the chance to take the ball down to the Tameside goal end.
Oldham made a bad pass that looked like it was going off court, before Oldham Wing Attack Rachael Bolton somehow managed to rescue it and feed Goal Shooter Charlotte Preston who calmly slotted the winning goal with only seconds remaining.
Final Score 8 – 7 to Oldham
Oldham then faced Eagles from Essex in the final. Oldham took a 7 – 3 lead and looked to be cruising when the Essex girls staged a spirited comeback. Oldham hung on and won the game 7 – 6.
Team manager Sue Westwood ” I am so proud of the girls, this is the 5th year in a row this team has won this tournament. It was a little scary but we did it in the end.”
