Oldhams Premier League Team made the journey up the A1 on Sunday for the final game of the season. This was a rearranged fixture due to a leaky sports hall roof stopping the game first time round.
Oldham started brightly going goal for goal with the home side, but it wasn’t long before Oaksway started to pull away. they took the first quarter 17 – 11.
Not happy with the performance coach Mike Greenwood moved the defence around putting Jodie Gibson at Goal Keeper. The change made a difference with Oldham pushing the experienced Oaksway side all the way only to lose out on the quarter 11- 8.
Half time didn’t help matters when Oaksway brought on Emma Lower their 6ft 4″ shooter. Oaksway had command of the game. Despite a change of tactics from Oldham, Oaksway took the final quarter and the game 61 – 36.
Oldham finished the season in a very respectable fourth place. Every one involved is now looking forward to a rest and getting ready to go again when the new season starts 12th September 2010.
